A number of 500 transport units in Chisinau municipality were equipped with bactericidal devices. Air disinfection equipment is installed to protect travelers from viruses and bacteria and prevent their spread, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said that the ultraviolet recirculatory is recommended by public health specialists. It is designed to disinfect the air in the presence of people. Therefore, passengers are encouraged to ask public transport drivers to connect UV air recirculators as respiratory tract viral infections constantly increase in number in the period, according to data of the National Public Health Agency.

The devices were purchased and installed within the project “MOVE IT like Lublin” for the development of public transport in Chisinau municipality. The financing from the European Union totals over 2.8 million lei.
