Five European projects to be presented to the media in Chisinau

The European Union and the Council of Europe will present projects on fighting discrimination, strengthening the judicial system, the digital agenda and elections in the Republic of Moldova. The five projects will be implemented in the Republic of Moldova in the next two years, IPN reports.

The total budget for the implementation of these projects is of €2.5 million, with the European Union providing approximately €1.9 million. The project are co-financed and implemented by the Council of Europe.

The projects, which will be carried out under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework, will focus on improving electoral processes in the country, combatting and preventing discrimination, strengthening respect for human rights in the digital agenda, strengthening the judiciary and supporting the Moldovan Bar Association.

In addition to these country-specific projects, Moldova also participates in 14 regional actions covering several Eastern Partnership countries.

The presentation will take place at 10:00 local time on October 29, 2015, at the Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel. Jose-Luis Herrero, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau; Aneil Singh, Head of Operations Section, European Union Delegation to Moldova; Sergiu Palihovici, Secretary General of the Government; Sergiu Mihov, Counselor, Global Affairs and Human Rights Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; and Arkadi Sytine, Council of Europe Coordinator of the Programmatic Co-operation Framework will present the projects and reply to questions of the media representatives.
