Five districts in northern Moldova will be connected to Soroca-Balti water pipeline
Five districts in northern Moldova – Sangerei, Floresti, Drochia, Rascani and Telenesti – will be connected to Soroca-Balti water pipeline, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At Wednesday’s Government meeting, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev instructed the persons in charge of the project to expedite the construction of water lines to and inside the districts that will be connected to the main.
As the Premier said, the 340 million lei needed to build the water lines that will connect the districts to the main will be provided by the State Budget, while the expenses for the piping systems inside the districts will be covered by the district and local budgets.
The Premier pointed out the need to develop, modernise and restore to full capacity the Soroca-Balti pipeline. For this purpose, Vasile Tarlev requested a plan of measures to cut down production costs, which will include, among others, measures to increase the number of consumers, modernise equipment, and enhance the management of the water supplier.
The Soroca-Balti water pipeline was restored to use in late December 2006, and now delivers tap water to consumers in Balti municipality and Soroca district.
