Five districts facing coal shortage
Five districts in Moldova are in need of extra coal supply for the incoming heating season. The available supplies in Stefan-Voda, Criuleni, Glodeni, Straseni and Cantemir cover up to 30% of the necessary amount for providing the budget-funded institutions with heat for the cold period of the year.
At Thursday’s meeting of the National Commission for Energy, Minister of Local Public Administration Valentin Guznac said the state of affairs in other regions is relatively better, with 72% of the necessary amount of coal already in stock.
The Government ordered the district authorities to implement energy conservation and cost saving measures. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev emphasised the necessity of a strict quality control of the purchased coal as well as monitoring the delivery terms and the structure of prices, a communiqué from the Government Press Service says.
