At the end of August, the employees of the budget-funded sector will enjoy a five-day vacation spanning from Independence Day on August 27 to Our Language Day on August 31, IPN reports.

Both Independence Day and Our Language Day are national holidays and by Parliament decision employees are paid for these days. Since this year these two holidays are separated by a weekend, falling on August 29 and 30, the Government decided to make Friday, August 28, a day off as well. Instead, employees will have to come to work on Saturday, August 22.

At the beginning of the year, too, public sector employees enjoyed a small, four-day vacation occasioned by the New Year, on January 1-4; and then a 5-day vacation occasioned by Christmas as per the Julian calendar, on January 7-11.
