Five persons have been so far registered as candidates for the mayoralty of Balti municipality. All of them were fielded by political parties. Six parties submitted lists of candidates for posts on the Balti Municipal Council, but there are also two independent candidates, the head of the Balti District Electoral Council Vitalie Balan has told IPN.

The PCRM’s candidate Octavian Mahu tops the list of candidates in the ballot to choose the mayor. He is followed by the PDM’s candidate Serghei Chiseliov, the PPRM’s candidate Nicolae Chirilciuc, the PLDM’s candidate Boris Marcoci, and the PSM’s candidate Vladimir Dorojko.

The PCRM will be under No. 1 in the ballot to elect members of the Balti Municipal Council. The PDM comes next, being followed by the PSRM, Filip Reliu (independent), the PPRM, the PL, Ivan Ungureanu (independent), and PSM.

The deadline for submissions is May 14.
