Five Baccalaureate centers and four domiciles searched

Five Baccalaureate centers and four domiciles had been searched during the foreign language exam taken on June 12, Info-Prim Neo reports. Viorel Morari, acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, told a press briefing that the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, in concerts with the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, took legal action over traffic of influence against 30 persons – teachers, students and relatives who helped candidates to copy in the Baccalaureate exam. Over 200 mobile phones were seized at the five Baccalaureate centers. Many other phones were thrown out through the window so as not to be identified. Bogdan Zumbreanu, head of the Center’s General Prosecution Division, said that two persons of those investigated are teachers who were involved in similar cases last year. The five Baccalaureate centers where mobile phones were found are situated in Nisporeni, Falesti, Svetlyi village of Comrat district, and in Chisinau. A record number of mobile phones were discovered at one of the two Chisinau high schools searched – 163 phones at 268 candidates. The papers of these students will be invalidated. A decision is to be taken by the National Exams Commission. As many as 29,017 candidates sat the exam in the foreign language (English, French, Spanish, Turkish, German, or Italian) at 159 Baccalaureate centers, including at colleges and universities, on June 12.
