From April 25 to May 15, recreational fishing of the Danube shad (Alosa immaculata) on the Nistru River is restricted from the Dubăsari Dam to Palanca village, Ștefan Vodă, as well as on the Turunchuk branch, near the village of Cioburciu, Ștefan Vodă.
The closure is intended to protect shad as they aggregate and swim up the River to reproduce.
Under an Environment Agency order, Danube shad fishing will be permitted from May 16 to June 15 included, only during daylight hours, and with all types of rods and reels. The Environment Protection Inspectorate will police the protected areas to ensure the order is complied with.
