Fiscal Inspectorate and Education Ministry warn youth about risk of getting involved in tax evasion schemes

The investigations carried out by the State Main Fiscal Inspectorate show that a significant part of the founders, managers or bookkeepers of phantom companies are young people aged between 18 and 25. Many of these are not aware that they “own” companies. Asked by inspectors, they cannot even name the kind of activity. A part of them confess that they gave the identity card to other persons for certain services. The reporter of Info-Prim Neo learned about this from the head of the fiscal anti-fraud division of the State Main Fiscal Inspectorate, Ion Frunza. According to the cited source, the State Main Fiscal Inspectorate and the Ministry of Education and Youth are cooperating with a view to preventing the involvement of the young people in tax evasion schemes by registering illegal firms in their names. “We decided to work out an information product that would enable to select the newly registered bookkeepers, using the age of the founder or of the company manager as risk criteria. This fact allows to discover the phantom firms from the very start and to prevent the involvement of the youth in dubious businesses,” Ion Frunza said. Together with the Education Ministry, there was set a timetable of seminars that will be taught in higher and vocational education establishments in order to inform the youth about the risks and consequences of giving the identification papers to unknown persons for registering the company or drawing up fiscal reports, the cited source said.
