Fiscal incomes make up over 80% of national public budget

The fiscal incomes represent over 80% of the total revenues collected into the national public budget in the first half of this year, said economist Viorel Dandara, one of the authors of the studies contained in No. 30 of the Economic Monitor, which is issued by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The value added tax was the main source of income. The collections from VAT increased compared with the same period last year, making up 32.5% of the total budget revenues (4.03bn lei). The excises rose by over 867 million lei or 0.8%. The excise duties on cigarettes and cigars, certain kinds of cars, beer, gasoline and its derivatives, perfumes, jewelry, electrical appliances, and strong alcoholic drinks were increased on January 1, 2010. Viorel Dandara said the budgets of all the levels have been planned much more realistically than in 2009. The 101% fulfillment of the budget estimated by “Viitorul” after the first three months of the year can be by 1% or 2% higher (102 – 103%) if efficient cooperation in identifying cases of tax evasion is ensured between the Tax Service and the Customs Service. The national public budget revenues in the first six months of the year grew by 14.5% compared with January-June 2009 to 12.399 billion lei, making up 49.2% of the total collections projected for 2010.
