First table grapes packing house to be erected in Costesti
The Association of Table Grape Producers and Exporters from Costesti obtained financing for building a table grape packing house in Moldova within a project. Experts said the Moldovan table grapes are well-known on the ex-Soviet and European markets, but the problems related to packing and the cold limited their potential, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In order to solve the problems, the Agricultural Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (ACED) helped the community in Costesti, Ialoveni to obtain financing from the National Regional Development Fund for the construction of a packing house with refrigerator.
The packing house will be 2,000 square meters in area and will include a refrigerator of 1,500 tonnes. The construction will cost 20 million lei, about 15 million lei of which will come from the National Regional Development Fund. The rest of the sum will be the contribution of the group of producers.
There are more than 1,400 producers of fruit and table grapes in central Moldova. 200 of them will form the group of producers that may become the main suppliers of fruit and grapes of a high quality for the new packing house.
According to the ACED, the Association of Table Grape Producers from Vulcanesti and Cahul and a group of producers from Stefan-Voda also asked for assistance in implementing similar projects in the given areas.
