First subsidiary of Science Academy to be opened in Balti
The first subsidiary of the Science Academy of Moldova (ASM) will be inaugurated on Friday, November 17, in Balti. The event takes place in accordance with the decision of the Assembly of ASM of February 14, 2006.
According to a press release of ASM, the Balti subsidiary of the Academy is organized on the basis of the local scientific institutions: State University “A. Russo”, Institute for Field Cultures “Selectia” etc. The new academic structure aims at expanding fundamental and practical researches in this region as regards different fields of science, in order to obtain new knowledge on the developing rules of nature, humans and society, to elaborate and implement advanced technologies in agriculture and industry, taking into consideration the specific character of the northern raions, the climate and traditions which were preserved in people’s material and spiritual life.
A trilateral meeting involving the chairmen of the Academy of Science of Moldova, Agricultural Science Academy from Ukraine, Agricultural and Forestry Academy “Gheorghe-Ionescu-Sisesti” from Romania will take place within the frameworks of the event. The meeting will host discusses on bilateral cooperation programs between these parties. Possibilities of trilateral technical-scientific cooperation will also be examined in light of the European territorial cooperation on EU external borders and of the Union of European Academies of Agricultural and Environment Sciences.
The event will end with the signing of a Trilateral Collaboration Convention.
On June 12, 2006, the Science Academy of Moldova celebrated the 60th anniversary of the first Moldovan scientific research institutions.
