First renovated train arrives in Moldova
A modernized Soviet train with four railcars, which was sent to Romania’s Pascani for renovation, will start work this week. More trains will undergo such reconstruction after the first renovated train is tested, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Maria Chitoroaga, consultant on communication with the mass media at the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, said the body of the train and the seats were changed. There were set up bio-toilets. The trains will be equipped with a Wi-fi system and will travel at a higher speed, depending on the capacity of the engine. The railcars will have TV sets and air conditioning.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the renovation of the trains costs less than the new trains. The prices depend on the comfort degree and the traction of the locomotive.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to provide financial support in the form of a loan for modernizing the trains and railway infrastructure in Moldova.
