A suitable family for every child who has been deprived of parental care. This was the aim set by the nongovernmental organizations “Detstvo Detyam” from Tiraspol and “Partnerships for Every Child” from Chisinau with the help of the EU-UNDP “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Program by implementing for the first time a professional foster family's service in the Transnistrian region, IPN reports
According to a press release from the UNDP, thanks to the new service, three children have been already placed in families, with other eight are to join their new families soon. Within this project, 20 professionals and representatives of local authorities from the Transnistrian region attended several training courses and made study visits on the right bank of the Nistru River to implement, in partnership, the first professional foster family service in the region.
At the same time, several information campaigns to identify potential parents were carried out. 58 identified families were prepared to host orphans or children deprived of parental care. Once the children are placed, the respective families receive psychological welfare services and free legal support.
“We believe that every child has the right to a loving family and by providing financial support to this project we are happy to offer this. Today we see how cooperation between organizations from both banks made children and their alternative families happy. This encourages us to continue our efforts in the next years and support joint initiatives between both banks for improvement of people’s lives” said Alexandre Darras, EU Delegation to Moldova attaché and project manager.
The EU-UNDP “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Program aims at increasing confidence between people living on the both banks of Nistru River, in order to help them cooperate and improve their lives. The Program is implemented during 2012-2015, with a total budget of €10,600,000, granted by the EU and UNDP.
