The life of the first president of Moldova, of the country he was born in, grew and worked, as well as of the country where he became a head of state – are the topics described by Mircea Snegur in the first volume of the trilogy “The Labyrinth of Destiny”. The volume comprises the period between his birth and the moment he was elected as President of Moldova. Mircea Snegur told Info-Prim Neo that objectivity was a sine qua non condition when describing the events. “I did not hide any event, even if today they make me feel uncomfortable. There were personal feelings amid tumultuous events, there were people who made history and this fact should be known by the younger generations, who are forced to study a wrong history”, Snegur said. The president qualified the message of this book as a bridge between generations, as a denial of the lies and discord attempts. Present at the launching of the book, Petru Lucinshi, the next president after Mircea Snegur, told Info-Prim Neo that he liked the book because the author did not adopt an egocentric attitude in order to prove his significance. He presented true facts about Moldova, both – good, and bad. For his part, chairman of the Union of Writers Mihai Cimpoi told the news-agency that the book has moved him, as the events with a great national value occurred in 1998-1999, events which decided the destinies of the population of Moldova are described objectively. “We find from President Snegur the background of the events we all participated in”, Mihai Cimpoi added. The book was launched on Thursday, March 15 and the National Library where the event took place was brimming with guests. Politicians, artists, writers, singers, students came to the launching, as well as the persons who supported Mircea Snegur in difficult moments of his life.
