A Polish library was inaugurated for the first time in Chisinau. The new cultural institution was opened downtown, on Sprancenoaia street, and is named after the symbol of Polish culture and dignity – the poet Adam Mickiewicz. The opening event took place on November 11 – Polish Independence Day. The inauguration event was marked by the presence of Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Krzysztof Suprowicz, a numerous public of Polish ethnicity, various cultural entities representatives and public administration officials. Ambassador Krzysztof Suprowicz mentioned that within the series of activities dedicated to the Independence Day, a Polish Film Festival will take place betweem November 16 and December 6 in Chisinau, Congaz and Balti. Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca emphasized the undoubted importance of the event for the secular traditional and cultural relationships between the Poles and Moldovans, mentioning that Chisinau should host such institutions for all co-inhabiting ethnicities. “Adam Mickiewicz” library is the 6th filial of the “B.P. Hasdeu” Municipal Library destined to ethnical communities in Chisinau.
