The Central Election Commission (CEC) Friday accredited the first national observers on behalf of “Promo-LEX” Association for monitoring the local general elections of June 14, IPN reports.
Contacted by IPN, the association’s press officer Carolina Bondarciuc said the 23 observers accredited on April 10 will form part of the central team. Afterward, applications will be submitted for obtaining the accreditation of several hundred observers who will supervise the elections at local level. The permit of observer enables to oversee the election campaign, the voting process, the vote count and the post-electoral period, until the results of the elections are validated.
According to a communique of the CEC, the accredited persons in their activity will use the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Election Code, the regulations concerning the status of observer and the observer accreditation procedure approved by the CEC and the international treaties to which Moldova is a party.
