First new public toilet opened in "Alunelul" Park

First of the eight public toilets, to be built in the capital’s parks, was put into operation in "Alunelul" Park. According to the head of Planning and Sanitation Section of the Directorate-General for Housing and Communal Services (DGLCA), Vasile Efros, for now, the toilet can be used free of charge, between 08.00 and 22.00, IPN reports.

The toilet has four cabins for women, a toilet for people with disabilities and four cabins and three urinals for men. It is also equipped with nine sinks, mirrors and soap dishes and is connected to the public water and sewerage network. The toilet is provided with video surveillance cameras to minimize the risk of vandalism.

According to Vasile Efros, the entry will be free of charge until a fee is approved by the Municipal Council. According to him, the free entry will allow the DGLCA to analyse the flow of users in order to be able to argue for the fee later." Apart from the economic aspect, there is also a matter of responsibility. When one pays, his attitude towards public assets is different”, says Vasile Efros.

Until the end of September, the DGLCA is planning to open another toilet in "La Izvor" Park and two in "Valea Trandafirilor" Park. Other four toilets are to be open by the end of the year in "Valea Morilor" Park and "Râșcani" Park.

Five million lei were allocated from the municipal budget for the construction of eight toilets.
