First municipal party appears in Moldova
The first municipal party was constituted in Moldova – the Party for Human Rights (PDO), the most important goal of which is to protect human rights in Moldova.
Victor Parlicov, member of the party’s bureau told Info-Prim Neo that PDO will ground on protecting human rights, including in concrete cases, using all legal means in this respect. All the initiatives and standpoints of the party will be based on deep respect for anyone, regardless of their ethnical roots, standpoints, culture as well as maintaining harmonious relations with the environment in order to ensure peace, security and prosperity to each person and to the whole society, the cited source says.
According to the same source, PDO will actively participate in the political life, including in the local elections of 2007, will permanently promote the good practices of public administration, will elaborate and propose creative solutions to the existent problems, will collaborate with the civil society and with international organizations, will promote instruction and informing in human rights and methods of protecting them. The cited source mentioned that for the elections of 2007, the party will probably not propose a candidate for the office of Mayor, but an own list of candidates for councilors. According to him, the representatives of the party have the goal and capacity to improve for the moment only the administration of Chisinau city, but in the future it will expand its activity in the entire country.
The party will be headed by a panel of chairmen composed of 5 persons.
The constituting Assembly of the Party took place on September 9, 2006. On September 29, the file regarding the registration of the Party was submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
At the moment 20 social-political parties are registered in Moldova, of which 6 are represented in the Parliament.
