The first Moldovan athletes at the Paris Paralympic Games enter the competition on Thursday, September 5. These are Ina Cernei, who will compete in the para judo event, and Gheorghe Spînu, who will contend in shot put, IPN reports.
In her debut at the Paralympics, Ina Cernei will face Alfiya Tlekkabyl of Kazakhstan in the first duel, in the up to 57 kg weight class. The competition starts at 11:00 a.m., Chisinau time.
Gheorghe Spînu is also contending at the Paralympic Games for the first time. The athlete will compete in shot put, F35 class, starting at 09:42 p.m., Chisinau time.
The Republic of Moldova is represented at the Paris Paralympics by five athletes. So far, Moldova has won 2 medals at the Paralympic Games, both in 1996.
