Specialists in the protection of children's rights on Tuesday met at their first national conference and discussed the role they play, the impact of their work in the community, their professional conduct and achievements, IPN reports.
A video message to thank the child protection specialists was addressed by President Maia Sandu: "I want to thank all those who take care of our children, the children of the Republic of Moldova, every day." The official noted that there are still many things to be done to optimize the processes in the system.
For his part, Minister of Social Protection Alexei Buzu stressed that "there is nothing more difficult than when a child is at risk." He promised that more resources will be mobilized and that more people will be hired in the field. "Children do not need compromises. We must give them everything," added the minister.
UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova Maha Damaj said that the event, organized for the first time, shows Moldova's commitment to create strong institutions for child protection and promised that UNICEF will remain a stable partner in the reform of the social system so that "every child feels safe and is encouraged to make the most of his or her potential."
The conference focused on such key issues as the protection of children's rights and intersectoral cooperation in the field, the future of the profession of child protection specialist and the prospects of ensuring quality training.
