First Lady of Poland comes to Chisinau

The First Lady of Poland Anna Komorowska, who will be visiting Moldova on May 15-17 at the invitation of Moldova’s First Lady Margareta Timofti, will take part in the screening of the most recent film of Andrzej Wajda “Walesa, Man of Hope”. The event will take place at Gaudeamus Movie Theater in Chisinau at 6pm on May 16, within the European Film Festival, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Embassy of Poland in Chisinau, the film is about a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who works as an electrician at the Gdansk Shipyard. He is one of the founders of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” – the great social movement that shook the foundations of the Communist power and led to the great freedom and democracy victory and the birth of the free and modern Poland, despite the introduction of the martial law and many years of repression.

At 9:30am on May 17, the First Ladies of Poland and Moldova will open the 14th festival “Polish Spring in Moldova”, which is organized by the Polish diaspora, at the Theater “Ginta Latina”.

Entrance to the film and the festival is free of charge.
