The teams “Codex” and “Geograph” are the winners of the first hackathon for visualizing statistical data in Moldova. The contestants worked out instruments for interactively presenting statistics, IPN reports.
The competition involved 30 young people studying economy, sociology and statistics, programmers, journalists, graphic designers, academicians etc. These formed nine teams and thought up instruments for presenting statistical data, from applications to graphic tables, during six hours.
The students of the Chisinau-based Theoretical Lyceum “O. Ghibu” Daniela-Andreea Moraru and Alexandru Iorgov were the most ingenious. Their team called “Codex” won €400. The three members of the team “Geograph” were awarded €300.
The EU-funded “Improved Regional Statistics in the Republic of Moldova Project” (STATREG) was implemented by the National Bureau of Statistics between November 2014 and March 2017. It had a total budget of €2 million.
