First Ethnic Balkan Festival to take place in Moldova

An Ethnic Balkan Festival will be held in Moldova for the first time, on August 16-17. Besides representatives of Moldova, the festival will also involve guests from Romania, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia and other countries. All the participants will present the national costumes and cuisine and will give performances of dances and music, specialist in communication of the cultural complex “Vatra” Lilia Duca has told IPN.

Lilia Duca said the festival will include surprises. The Serbian orchestra Šidski Trubači will perform in Moldova for the first time. It includes winds player Milan Milaćević, which also plays for Goran Bregovic’s Wedding and Funeral Orchestra. Furthermore, Šidski Trubači is a participant and laureate in the well-known Guča Trumpet Festival, which is held annually in Serbia. In 2010 and 2013, the orchestra was conferred the title “Best brass band in Voivodina”, which is a region in Serbia.

On August 16, recitals will be given by Argatu’  and Ad Hoc from Romania, the Serbian orchestra Šidski Trubači, the orchestra Tharmis, soloists Inna Bondari and DinaRatri from Moldova, the Ukrainian ensembles Dor Basarabean and Toporkestra. On August 17, the stage will be occupied by the Romanian band Subcarpati and brass band Zece Prajini (Shukar), Burdon of Ukraine, the orchestra Tharmis, etc.

The Ethnic Balkan Festival will be hosted by the ethnic-cultural complex “Vatra” that is situated on the Chisinau-Ungheni road, km 32. The events start at 11am. Tickets cost 50 lei for a day and 80 lei for two days. They are available online and at the entrance to the complex “Vatra”.
