The families of 8,000 children in Chisinau municipality will each receive 700 lei to help them go to school for the very first time, announced deputy head of Education Andrei Pavaloi during the meeting of the city services on Monday.

Pavaloi said that 6,103 children, all from disadvantaged families, already received the money. Another 1,897 first-graders will receive the aid soon.

Talking about enrollment of children in first grade, Andrei Pavaloi said that this process continues with stage 3 during August 20-30. “Of the 10,409 planned enrollment places in first grade, 10,364 children were enrolled. We believe that by August 30, this number will be exceeded, taking into account that in the second stage, 11 additional classes had to be opened”, he added.

As for high school education, almost 5,000 students have been enrolled in the 10th grade, and 395 places remain vacant.
