First day nursery opened at Moldovan International University

A day care centre was inaugurated Friday for the preschool children of more than 100 students studying at the International Free University of Moldova. During the launch ceremony, the author of the project, Dr Ala Mandacanu, mentioned that the idea was initiated by the students. At the same time she added that this is the first day nursery created at an educational institution in Moldova. According to the Dean of the Psychology Department, Dr Nicolae Sali, the children will be taken care of by the 4th year students of the faculty he is responsible for. The volunteering at the children’s room will constitute a practical period for students and will be a good occasion for a deep research on children’s psychology, Nicolae Sali pointed out. The young parents showed particular satisfaction with the creation of the care centre. Aurica Beregoi, 2nd year student at the Economic Science Department says that sometimes there’s nobody she could leave her child with and that from now on she will be able to attend the courses while her one-year-old son will be taken care of in the baby room. The project was implemented with the support of the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM), implying a total cost of 8,000 lei. IWCM president Sara Kirby stated that the baby hall will represent a special support for the single mothers who will be able to carry on with their studies, without worrying about of their babies. She emphasised that a good education is extremely important for the modern women.
