The fist class of the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism takes the final graduation examinations these days. The 19 students had the possibility of choosing by themselves the mass media area to make the project. For this purpose they produced reports and radio programs, TV documentaries, investigative reports and stories on one or several topics for the press. The students are assessed by journalists from different areas: Petru Macovei (Association of Independent Press), Nadin Gogu (Independent Journalism Center), Corina Cepoi (School of Advanced Journalism), Valentina Ursu (Free Europe), Artur Corghencea (PRO TV). According to Vitalie Dogaru, academic coordinator of the school, the fact that the majority of the students did well, shows that the graduates will be able to cope with the challenges at the future job. At the end, the projects will be published on the Internet. On Saturday, they will receive diplomas that will be divided into graduation diplomas, diplomas of graduation with merit, and diplomas of graduation with special merits. The School of Advanced Journalism is a project initiated by the Independent Journalism Center in cooperation with the Missouri School of Journalism and the Paris-based Journalism School and Training Center. It was set up ten months ago and had local and international journalists as trainers.
