The first screening session in the negotiation process with the European Union will take place on July 10-11 in Chisinau and will center on public procurement. There will be examined the national regulations, the necessary reform elements and the activities to be carried out in the next period, IPN reports.
“Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov at the end of last week announced that we received this schedule immediately after the first intergovernmental conference held in Luxembourg. Usually, all the delegations of the countries go to Brussels for this bilateral screening. Here we have a different organization. We will have the honor to host, for the first time, including on behalf of the European Commission, this screening in Chisinau,” the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said at a press conference.
He also announced that the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi will pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on July 9-11. In Chisinau, the European official will discuss the EU-Moldova cooperation, including Moldova’s status as an EU candidate country. Olivér Várhelyi is scheduled to meet with President Maia Sandu, Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov, as well as other ministers and MPs.
The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova noted that Olivér Várhelyi will visit beneficiaries of EU-funded projects and will take part in a series of events aimed at illustrating the EU support provided through the €17 billion Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership that includes the Republic of Moldova.
