A baby camel was born at the Chisinau Zoo in early March. This is the first camel to be born in Moldova in the last seven years, and last time it was actually the baby boy’s mother, Zoo director Olga Iuzvac told IPN.
The Bactrian calf is fed goat milk as the mother, who is at her first birth, has her maternal instinct underdeveloped.
The Chisinau Zoo intends to keep the male calf after it grows up.
From the beginning of this year, 17 cubs were born at the Zoo, including baby Cameroon goats, kangaroos, donkeys, meerkats and mouflons.
The Zoo is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Adults pay 30 lei to enter, the entrance fee for students and pensioners is 5 lei, and children under 7 enter for free.
