The first apicultural center in the northern development region was set up in Cupcini town of Edinet district with Romanian funds. According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the grant provided by the Government of Romania came to over €150,000, IPN reports.
According to the deputy head of the Ministry’s General Regional Development Division Igor Malai, the center will benefit beekeepers from 11 districts.
Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita encouraged the development of the beekeeping sector. “I’m glad to see that the provided money was invested in this apicultural center that meets the European standards. I urge you to continue the project by setting up a honey testing lab,” stated the diplomat.
According to the director of the Regional Development Agency “North” Ion Bodrug, the services provided by the apicultural center will increase the chances of beekeepers who aim to have a profitable business.
The center consists of two departments, an informational and marketing one and a purchase, processing and packing one.
