First 6 social apartment blocks with 380 apartments could be already constructed in 2007, in case the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will accept the financial project presented by the Regional Development Agency. Sources from the Agency mentioned that the value of the project amounts to EUR 7 mln. The Government approved on September 13 the draft law on social dwellings for socially vulnerable categories of persons, including young persons. The living houses, apartments, the spaces which are used as dwellings by the citizens who need social protection according to the legislation are included in the category of “social dwellings”. According to the draft law, only the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, whose dwellings are not appropriate for living because of natural and social disasters, orphan children, and those who were forced to leave their permanent houses, married young persons up to 35 years old who do not have a separate dwelling, young specialists who a have a work contract for a period of 5 years and others will benefit of social dwellings.
