“The absolute majority of members of the Government haven’t worked for state institutions and haven’t managed complex systems with major political and social implications. The multiple hesitations and communication errors and the lack of visible steps in implementing an agenda with an impact derive from here. Moreover, they cannot implement the agenda of the President or Parliament, even if we haven’t had clear delimitation between the ‘branches’ of the power for a period. Experience will come. Be patient,” former Prime Minister Ion Sturza posted in social media in connection with the first 100 days of the Gavrilița Government’s mandate, being quoted by IPN

The ex-Premier noted that the first 100 days were marked by the gas crisis that was managed rather well. “Questions appear when it goes to the health crisis, economic reforms, agriculture as a priority, promotion of staff that can cope with the managerial and political challenges. From modest to very modest,” said Ion Sturza, adding no progress has been made in the infrastructure sector, but the Government yet managed to divide the money that it does not yet have with great abundance.

According to the ex-Premier, the Government didn’t manage to communicate empathically and to everyone’s understanding, but Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, regardless of the “artistic impression“, does a good job, is determined and knows how to act.

For his part, ex-President Igor Dodon on a social networking site wrote that this is the first Government in Moldova’s history that disappointed the people so swiftly and so deeply as the Gavrilița Government during 100 days became synonymous with the economic, pandemic, energy and social crises.

“The prices of absolutely all the products and services grew. The number of infected persons and of deaths rose because the pandemic has been managed badly. We see salary arrears, abusive dismissals of functionaries, humiliation of doctors and teachers, bankruptcy of farmers and of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. During these three months of PAS government, the Republic of Moldova also went through a state of emergency in the energy sector as the Government didn’t negotiate the contract for the supply of gas on time and the result of negotiations was a more than double rise in the price and rates for consumers,” posted Igor Dodon.

As to the social sphere, the former President said the compensations announced by the government represent cheating as the citizens will get almost nothing substantial, if only a small subsidy for the higher gas rate. They will yet pay higher sums for all the services, for heat, for food, for transport. As experts estimated, Moldova is close to the most serious social and economic crisis since the declaring of its independence and the forecasts are dreadful.
