First 10 candidates for Chisinau mayor office registered
First 10 candidates for the office of Chisinau Mayor were registered on Friday, April 20, by the Chisinau Election Council (CEC).
The Party of Communists will participate in the elections with the interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan. For the same office are running Ion Mereuta from the Humanist Party. The third candidate is Leonid Bujor of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance. Vladimir Filat, representing the “Democrat Party” is number 4, Dorin Chirtoaca, on behalf of the Liberal Party – number 5 in the ballot list, Zinaida Zorin on behalf of the Conservative Party - number 6. The others are Alexandru Corduneanu, on behalf of People’s Christian Democrat Party, Valentin Krylov, Electoral Bloc “Patria-Rodina-Ravnopravie”, Eduard Musuc, on behalf of the Social Democrat Party of Moldova and Corneliu Ciurea representing the Social Liberal Party.
Chisinau Election Council has also registered several candidates for the office of City Councillors, on behalf of Communist Party, Humanitarian Party, “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Democratic Party, Conservative Party, People’s Christian Democrat Party, Social Democrat Party, Social Liberal Party and Liberal Party.
Ion Cretu, the head of the Election Council, told the media that the candidates have the right to start their election campaign from the very moment of registration. On Monday the candidates are to receive the specific identification cards from the Election Council.
The deadline for application is May 4. Local elections will be organised on June 3.
