Firm support for Moldova and Ukraine in EU accession process, assumed by Moisei Resolution

In a complex geopolitical context, Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine strengthened their partnership through a parliamentary and diplomatic event of strategic importance, organized in Maramureș. A resolution stipulating firm support for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the process of joining the European Union was adopted at the meeting of the legal committees of the parliaments of the three countries held in Moisei, IPN reports.

The Committee for Legal Matters, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations of the Romanian Senate undertook to support the continuation of reforms to promote the rule of law, fundamental rights and values and remains a close partner of the corresponding committees of the parliaments of the republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The members of the committees also condemned the hybrid actions by other states aimed at undermining democratic institutions, directed against the member states of the European Union and the acceding countries.

"It has been 3 years since the launch of Russia's total invasion of Ukraine, and we strongly condemn the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation and reaffirm our support for the restoration of just and lasting peace, respecting the political independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders," reads the resolution.

Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, a member of the Committee for Legal Matters, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations of the Romanian Senate, said that the event in Moisei showed that there is a common vision for a European future, based on democracy, security and prosperity.

"As the chairman of the Committee for Culture and Media and a member of the Committee for Legal Matters of the Romanian Senate, but also as the initiator of the event in Moisei, I supported and will continue to support this institutional effort that is essential for the stability of our region," said Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș.

The resolution was signed by the chairpersons of the Committee for Legal Matters, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations of the Romanian Senate, the Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Committee on Legal Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The document was also signed by the heads of the Committee for Culture and Media and the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Romanian Senate.
