A woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a fire in her house. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the tragedy happened in Cortenul-Nou village of Taraclia district last night. Villagers saw smoke coming out of a window of the house and rushed to put out the fire. The owner of the house, a 78-year-old woman, could not be saved. Preliminary investigations show the fire was caused by a short circuit. A number of 40 persons died from carbon monoxide poisoning in this year's 199 fires.
