Fires claim three lives
Three persons died from carbon monoxide positioning in their homes on Sunday, February 14.
Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that two of the victims were from Soroca district. A 49-year-old man was discovered dead in his house in Cainarii-Vechi village. He felt asleep with a burning cigarette, which set the bed clothes on fire.
A man aged 74 from Cosauti village died in a fire that is also blamed on a burning cigarette.
A 55-year-old woman from Dubasarii-Vechi village of Criuleni district got poisoned with carbon monoxide emitted by her faulty stove.
The 271 fires that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 51 deaths.
Four villages – two in Nisporeni district and by one in Straseni and Soroca districts - were still disconnected from the power supply this morning, by 10 A.M.
