Fires cause new victims
Five persons died from carbon monoxide poisoning in fires in their homes on Monday, January 25.
Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fires were caused by defective or overheated stoves.
A 69-year-old man was killed in a fire in Ceadar-Lunga town. The fire destroyed objects in the house and then stopped burning.
A fire that broke out in an annexe situated near the forester's house in Cosauti village of Soroca district took the life of a woman aged 80.
A man aged 84 was found dead in his house in Suri village of Drochia district. The clothes on his bed were destroyed by fire.
An overheated stove in a house in Costuleni village of Ungheni district made the gas cylinder explode. The owner of the house, a 80-year-old woman, was killed in the fire.
A woman aged 83 got poisoned with carbon monoxide emitted by the defective stove in her house in Besghioz village of Ciadar-Lunga district.
The 147 fires that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 32 deaths.
