Detachments and units of firemen from 12 localities of Moldova participate in the XI edition of the republican Championship of applicative sports, which is dedicated to the memory of the superior fireman Veaceslav Matailo. At the solemn opening of the Championship on Friday, September 8 a minute of silence to the memory of Veaceslav Matailo was kept. The parents, relatives and his colleagues laid flowers at his photograph installed on “Dinamo” stadium where the competition is organized. Igor Bodorin, the deputy minister of Internal Affairs declared that the firemen were always respected for their devotion and self-sacrifice. The event is an example of heroism, attitude which is characteristic for firemen, the official said. Within the frameworks of the competition the 4x100 meters relay race, a running race with obstacles, will be organized. The Championship will officially close on Saturday, September 9.
