Firefighting post ensures fire safety at COVID-19 Center at Moldexpo

A rescue and firefighting post will be ensuring fire safety at the COVID-19 Center at Moldexpo in Chisinau as from October 5. The decision to set up the post was taken by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations following discussions with the administration of the Center in a move to avoid risk situations involving patients and personnel, IPN reports.

The post consists of four employees of the Chisinau Search and Rescue Division No.1 of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. The post will work round-the-clock while the number of patients at the Center will be on the rise.

A similar decision was taken in spring, when rescuers and firefighters during several months watched over the patients nonstop.

Earlier this month, seven persons died in a fire at the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of Constanța’s Infectious Diseases Hospital. In Moldova’s Parliament, Speaker Igor Grosu requested the Ministry of Health to order checks to determine the state of electrics at the hospitals in Moldova, primarily at those where patients with COVID-19 are treated, so as to prevent eventual fires.
