Fire trucks in Bender in use for over 40 years
The fire trucks of the Bender firefighting service have been in use since 1970 and their age hinders the efficient intervention of the fire fighters in case of necessity. The Bender firemen have to do with 55 fire trucks from the last century, PRM Inform reports, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the head of the fire service in Bender, Valeriu Burachin, some Russian sponsors made a gift of 8 fire trucks to the city, which had previously been in use for 10 years, and the Bender firemen have been using them for 4 years now.
“We need specialized trucks for different kinds of fires, in rural and urban areas. In the latter, to extinguish a fire we’d need a truck with a high pressure hose and a smaller volume of water. In villages, we’d need trucks that could carry a larger quantity of water”, explained Burachin.
He added the fire fighters and the heads of the fire service in Bender have to repair the worn equipment even during their shifts. Fortunately, there haven’t been any victims so far because of the firemen’s late arrival.
