A car that belongs to the son of an electoral contender who runs in single-member constituency in Balti burned on Mihai Eminescu St in the town last night. The police suspect arson, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the head of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Pînzari said the police were alerted at about 1am. Traces of gasoline and matches were found at the scene. The offense will be categorized depending on the caused damage. No details were provided about the political affiliation of the electoral contender. However, a press release issued by the Democratic Parry said the car belongs to Maxim Iordan, the son of the PDM candidate in constituency No. 10 Sergey Iordan.

Alexandru Pînzari also spoke about a bus that burned at a parking lot in Ceadâr-Lunga town on January 26. He said this case is not political in character, as it was rumored in the public sphere. The police are considering versions related to competition in passenger transportation. The injured parties told the police that on January 15 they announced a 50% decrease in the fare for a trip to Turkey and were consequently threatened by their opponents.

Marin Maxian, head of the General Public Security Division, said a candidate for MP informed he was physically and verbally attacked by three men in Edineț on January 27. The police identified and questioned these. The electoral contender was requested to have his injuries recorded. Earlier, the candidate of the bloc ACUM DA PAS in Edineț constituency Dinu Plângău said he was attacked after he informed live through Facebook that he and his team were subject to intimidation.

As regards the January 26 incident in Orhei, where a person who accompanied an electoral contender said he was physically and verbally attacked by several women, Marin Maxian said penalties were imposed for minor hooliganism in this case. The person who reported the aggression is the candidate of ACUM DA PAS in Orhei constituency Valeriu Munteanu.
