A fire put the dwellers of a five-story building located in Chisinau’s Botanica district on alert this morning. It started in an apartment situated on the last floor. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the firefighters came at about 6am. The dwellers of the apartments from the fifth floor were evacuated. Nobody was hurt. The fire was extinguished quickly. The firefighters were called by dwellers scared by the smoke that spread throughout the corridor. Neighbors said a man lives in the apartment that caught fire. He wasn’t at home. The firefighters had to force the door. Allegedly, the man left a smoldering cigarette in the apartment and left. The 435 fires that happened in Moldova so far this year resulted in 48 deaths. Three of the victims were children.
