The fire that happened at “Stefan cel Mare” High School in Chisinau in the morning of October 6 was caused by a short circuit, said the school’s deputy head Ala Cernadciuc. She told Info-Prim Neo that the press exaggerated the case as there was no explosion and flame. A part of the table melted and there appeared smoke. Ala Cernadciuc said the chemistry teacher, a twelfth grader, who was in the chemistry lab where the short circuit occurred and a girl from the eighth grade who was one floor below were taken to the hospital with poisoning. Sources in Saint Trinity Hospital informed the Agency that the three patients are out of danger and were discharged. The fire started in the chemistry lab. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, seven firefighting vehicles traveled to the scene. The fire extended on about 4 square meters and destroyed a table and a cabinet in the lab.
