Fire at Moldova State University
A fire that erupted this morning in a workshop on the first floor of the block no.4 of the Moldova State University forced students and staff to evacuate the building to avoid a potential spread of the fire.
As Liliana Puscasu of the Fire & Rescue Dept. told Info-Prim Neo, a second-degree alarm, indicating fire at a large or crowded structure, was triggered at 9:45 am. All five district fire departments reacted immediately by dispatching fire engines and rescue crews to the scene.
The firefighters found the building filled with thick smoke coming from a workshop on the first floor, where an employee tried in vain to extinguish the fire which he had started by operating a welding installation, apparently in disregard of safety rules. At 10:03 the fire was put out. The author will most likely face an administrative fine.
