The children and employees of kindergarten No. 153 situated on Șoseaua Hâncești St in Chisinau were evacuated after a fire started at the institution, IPN reports.

The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport said that the two electricity meters of the kindergarten started to burn as a result of a short circuit on January 5. Firefighters and specialists of the power supplier were called out.

“To avoid eventual risks to the children and employees, these were evacuated from the institution, while the parents were informed so as to take the children back home. Experts determined the fire was caused by a short circuit owing to the overloading of the power network and damaging of pipes going through the wall of the second floor of the building,” said the Division.

The electrics will be changed during several days and the groups from the second floor will be merged with those from the first floor meanwhile, with a reduce program until 4pm, given the low attendance during the holidays. The children will be fed as usual as the cooking facilities weren’t affected and the power supply system there is functional.
