The greatest fire in the last nine years that occurred at a furniture material storehouse in Botanica district was caused deliberately. This is the final conclusion reached by the Emergencies Situation Division that conducted the investigation, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the January 23 meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, the Division’s deputy head Liviu Merzincu said the storehouse was set on fire, but the arson is yet to be proven. The police do not have a suspect yet. “Things become more complicated. We must find out who did it and if there are other such risks. It is worrisome that somebody decided to resort to such an act. The suspect must be identified and punished,” said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. The fire on Decebal Blvd. happened on the night of December 25. It destroyed about 500 square meters of the storehouse. Twenty-three special vehicles and over 200 firefighters traveled to the scene. A similar fire of such a scale occurred at a furniture storehouse on Muncesti St in Chisinau nine years ago.
