Fiodor Ghelici will be under house arrest

Activist Fiodor Ghelici, who manages the public association “Moldova Mea”, will be released from the remand center and will be under hour arrest for a month, from November 10. The decision was taken by the Rascani district court on November 6. The information was confirmed by lawyer Gheorghe Amihalachioaie for IPN.

Fiodor Ghelici is investigated for trafficking in human beings. He was arrested on October 11 and then remanded in custody for 30 days. Members of the association “Moldova Mea” and the activist’s relatives deny the accusations, saying the criminal case was started by a political order.

Fiodor Ghelici anticipated in a news conference that he will be arrested. The activist said he is suspected of trafficking in persons through the organization he heads and asked President Nicolae Timofti to become involved.
