The chairman of the public association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici said the victims of trafficking in human beings do not benefit from assistance from the law enforcement agencies. In a news conference at IPN, the activist said two men came to the association he heads and complained that they were cheated after they used the services of a recruitment firm that promised them work in Israel. They filed complaints, but the competent bodies didn’t act appropriately.

The two men were to reach Israel through Egypt on the pretext of going on vacation. They paid by themselves the price of the so-called tickets. In Egypt, they were met at the airport and accompanied to a hotel on the seaside from where they were to go to Israeli by bus the next day. At the border with Israel, the border police didn’t allow them to pass. When back at the hotel, the men called the representative of the recruitment firm in Israel and this advised them to find a solution to reach Israel themselves. The representative of the same firm in Moldova told them that nothing depends on him further.

The men want now to get back the spent €1,500 each. They filed complaints to the police, but nothing was done to help them.

In connection with the happening, “Moldova mea” chairman Fiodor Ghelici called President Igor Dodon a ‘traitor’ as he does not intervene in such cases and becomes thus an accomplice of the firms that rob Moldovans.

In another news conference earlier, Fiodor Ghelici related the case of 17 Moldovans who went to Poland to work. The recruitment firm that promised them high salaries and favorable working conditions lied to them. Consequently, they returned home without money. The costs incurred by them for the trip weren’t refunded to them either.
