Fiodor Ghelici says PSRM hampered his registration as an election runner

The head of the public association “Moldova mea” Fiodor Ghelici said the representatives of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) led by President Igor Dodon hampered his registration as an election contestant in single-member constituency No. 31.

In a news conference at IPN, Fiodor Ghelici said first of all the Central Election Commission tried to hamper the creation of the initiative group that was to collect signatures in support of him. Later, activists of the PSRM threatened the people not to sign as they would be deprived of cold-month allowances and public transport compensations. When the team collected the necessary signatures, by order of Igor Dodon the representatives of the PSRM at the Central Election Commission did so that he wasn’t registered. He challenged the CEC’s decision in court and won the case, but saw no use of becoming involved in the electoral race only several days before the elections.

The activist called on the people to vote the lesser evil but definitely not the Party of Socialists. He recommended the voters to take part in the referendum and to support the reduction in the number of MPs and their recalling if they do not appropriately fulfil their duties.

In another development, Fiodor Ghelici accused the PSRM of banditry against building companies. He said that when a company obtains a building authorization, the Socialists spread around rumors that the construction is illegal. For the purpose, they take the pensioners to protests and ask for US$ 40,000 to US$ 60,000 from the companies for stopping the protests and allowing these to work. The activist presented an audio recording at the news conference, but didn’t say who spoke there and where he took the recording from.

Speaking about the Moldovan pilots who were held hostage in Afghanistan and about their release that was announced by Igor Dodon over a week ago, Fiodor Ghelici said Dodon negotiated with intermediaries illegal commissions for him from the ransom overfed by the Russians for the release of the two Moldovans and the President obtained US$ 250,000.
