Fiodor Ghelici says only one point from Constitution should be modified
The Civil Society Congress considers that the present Parliament must be dissolved as it could not elect the head of state. In a news conference, the Congress' chairman Fiodor Ghelici said the Constitutions should not be modified. “Only one point from the Constitution should be changed so that the President of Moldova is elected directly by the people,” Ghelici said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Fiodor Ghelici called on Acting President Mihai Ghimpu and Prime Minister Vlad Filat to organize a referendum where the people could choose the method of electing the head of state as soon as possible.
For his part, Vladimir Turcan, a member of the Civil Society Congress, said it would be right to dissolve the Parliament and hold early elections, adding that it is the people who should elect the head of state.
In the same news conference, Fiodor Ghelici presented the copies of a number of documents that, according to him, show that the trade in stolen vehicles flourishes in Moldova. “Most of the stolen cars are owned by police officers, prosecutors and other high-ranking officials,” he said.
Ghelici presented documents showing that the president of a court of law drives a Jeep that is searched for by the police in Spain. “The owner of the car showed forged documents, according to which the vehicle was bought in Germany. But we have proofs that the car has never been in Germany. Moreover, the Interpolul informed the police in Moldova that the car was registered after the current owner won a legal case,” Gehlici said.
The representatives of the Civil Society Congress also said that Moldova is known as a safe country for stolen cars, which are also called “trolleybuses” as they can be used only inside the country.
“Until recently, I was proud of my country. Now I often think about living this county as I see no one able to do justice here,” Fiodor Ghelici said.
